Thank you all!

I'm not sure anyone will actually read this, but James and I want to thank everyone for a spectacular wedding.

It couldn't have happened without you!

Madison report

We hear the weather in Madison has been beautiful this week and some pretty amazing color is expected! It has been warm (right around 80) but it looks like we should expect some near average temperatures around October 15 (highs around mid-60, lows around mid-40).

The countdown is on!

Gifts and other stuff

I actually leave for Madison in a week and James and Logan follow close behind (the boy IS in school, after all)! It has come up so fast and now it's time for everything to come together!

Speaking of, we know many of you already have gifts in mind though we chose not to register anywhere.

If you're still wondering what to do...we are happy to have donations made in our name. Otherwise, we are big outdoors people and one of us may or may not be employed by a certain outdoor store...and we just moved into a new home so home improvement stores, homes stores and Ikea are places we will be frequenting as we merge our lives and figure out how to organize it all and fit it together!

If you choose to donate, we ask that you give to any of the following, in any amount in our names:
Mohonk Preserve
The Nature Conservancy
IMBA (International Mountain Biking Association)
NPR

Thank you all for being a part of this experience! We are looking forward to October 15!

RSVP HERE!!

We are closing in on the wedding day! Invitations are out and hopefully reaching everyone. Please use this space to RSVP and let us know how many people you will be and if the food we are offering (make-your-own chicken or veggie or bean burritos) is ok. We will try to accomodate any special diets.

We can't wait to see you!

Details and more

The way this works: James and I chose to have a small ceremony, which means not everyone will hear the actual "I do's." HOWEVER, we want you to be a part of the day and so if you are on this blog site, it's because we are asking you to please come to Orton Park to celebrate afterward with food, beverages (local, tasty beer? you bet!), music, dancing, games, etc. You will be receiving an invitation soon with this info, so if you haven't yet, please send us your address!

Food: We would prefer seasonal but can guarantee local. Seasonal in Madison in October can be more work than we have the time and energy for :). SO we will be having a burrito bar courtesy of Tex Tubbs (East side!!). You can bet Logan is out of his gourd about this. He will likely try and make yours for you. Feel free to politely decline. Or throw a tortilla out into the grass as a diversion. Believe us, it will work. It will work better if you include black beans...

There will be a meat option for you meat eaters (roasted chicken), veggies for the rabbits our there (like us) and plenty of beans and rice and salsa and guac.

Dessert: Beautiful homemade wedding cake and lovingly homemade and self-collected pies will be wonderfully provided by Sarah McCoy and Jessica Ciomperlik. Please make sure you thank them. Look for the tall, thin red-head and the scrawny blonde. We have beautiful friends with some amazing talent.

Weather: Check out the average conditions on October 15 in Madison. For most of you, the temperature during the ceremony will be cool but comfortable. At night, it will get chilly. We will have a tent and it will be heated if the weather is typical.

What to wear: We are getting married in a park and we are looking forward to a relaxed, fun time for everyone. Don't feel compelled to show up in your formal wear. However, please do plan to wear something a little nicer than jeans.

Mans - collars and jackets are great, ties are optional.
Ladies - pants, skirts and dresses will all look lovely on you, but you might want to think about tights if you do the dress or skirt thing, close-toed shoes, and something over your shoulders if it's a normal October weekend.

We will keep an eye on the weather that week, as should you!

What to gift, if you so choose: In lieu of a registry, we would love a charitable donation made in our name (we will provide a list of places soon). If you don't feel comfortable with this, anything you would like to contribute toward a house and combining our lives would be a wonderful. Of course, just bringing yourself is all we truly ask for.

Music: If you want to hear something, send it our way! We are asking for music donations, since we will be hiring our iPods ;). James and I don't have much in the way of 'dance music' (I mean, you can dance to Incubus, but it wouldn't be pretty) so help us, and yourselves out!

Keep checking back here until it's time to get yourselves to Orton Park. We can't wait to see everyone!!

Quick update!

Rooms have been blocked at the Holiday Inn Express in Madison and this is where James and I will be staying too!

If you also want to stay there (woo hoo!), you can call and book within the block by telling them you are with the April-Tyrrell wedding. Just make sure to do so by September 14, otherwise the rooms will no longer be available within the block!

Also, if you haven't already, please let us know if you are interested in sharing a room with anyone to cut down on costs!
